"Lamorinda" is the local name for the area of Contra Costa County, California that includes the cities of Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda. The three cities combined create one of the most beautiful semi-rural/suburban neighborhoods in California, and some of the best public schools in the state as well.

Are You Prepared?

Earthquakes and wildfires are the most-likely widespread disasters to strike our community. Are you prepared? Have you stored food, water, and medications to last seven days or more? Would you know how to free a family member trapped by debris, or put out a small fire in a neighbor's house?

Prepare yourself by joining the Lamorinda Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT programs nationwide teach average citizens to prepare for and respond to disasters. With CERT training, you'll learn what you need to prepare, what to do during an event, and what to do after, including search and rescue techniques, medical and triage operations.

For more information about Lamorinda CERT, and to join the CERT program, go to http://www.lamorindacert.org/. Training classes are held throughout the year.
